The U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration recently awarded a $3 million grant to the city of Henderson, Kentucky, to aid in the completion of the Pratt paper mill. The investment, which will be matched with $2.8 million in local funds, is expected to create more than 300 jobs. Pratt announced its $400 million paper mill project in July 2021 and officially broke ground in December. Pratt's initial plan was to construct just a 450,000-square-foot paper mill that would manufacture 100-percent-recycled products. The company now plans to also build a 700-square-foot corrugator plant to produce corrugated sheet and boxes using paper sourced from the new mill. The paper mill is on track for a September 2023 completion.
