One of Australia’s largest paper recycling facilities will be erected in South East Queensland with plans to turn at least 220,000 tonnes of waste paper and cardboard from across Queensland and northern New South Wales into pulp for annual export. The Federal and Queensland Governments is partnering with AusWaste Recycling to build the A$137 million waste paper recycling facility at Brendale. Dubbed the Australian Recycled Pulp and Paper Project (or ARPPP), it is supported by a joint government investment of A$40 million via the Recycling Modernisation Fund. Industry is also playing a major part, accounting for A$97 million of the project's total cost. Construction is on track to start next summer with a mid-2025 completion targeted.
