Starbucks Adds Three New 2030 Sustainability Goals for Packaging

Starbucks introduced new 2030 sustainability goals for customer-facing packaging in its recent ESG report for the 2023 fiscal year. Starbucks set three specific 2030 goals for customer-facing packaging: one, must be 100% reusable, recyclable, or compostable; two, must be made using 50% less virgin fossil fuel-derived sources; and, three, must be sourced from 50% recycled materials. Additionally, the report shows the coffee giant backslid in 2023 on its emissions and waste-to-landfill reduction targets and is "off pace" for achieving its Ellen MacArthur Foundation Global Commitment targets for 2025.
