Local Paper Mills Rally for Charity in Bury Hospice Dragon Boat Race

A trio of teams representing a British paper mill company recently battled it out in a boat race to raise funds for Bury Hospice. Essity paper mills located in Oakenholt, Skelmersdale, and Stubbins vied in the Bury Hospice Dragon Boat Race at Elton Reservoir. Each boat was comprised of 16 rowers and a drummer to cover a 180-meter stretch. The Essity teams competed against seven others representing various companies outside the paper industry. The Skelmersdale Dragon Slayers emerged victorious, with only a second separating the top three teams. Essity has donated £3,000 to support the work of Bury Hospice via its Mill Community Fund and plans to return to compete in next year's race.
