Russia Bans Ruble Toilet Paper

Moscow’s Preobrazhensky District Court recently banned the sale of toilet paper with printed patterns of 1,000-ruble bills. The court decreed that the decorative toilet paper "offend(ed) religious feelings" since the 1,000-ruble banknote depicts Yaroslav the Wise, an 11th-century prince who was made a saint and subsequently canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church. The court banned the websites of four online stores that sold the toilet paper. Two of the four platforms -- Sima Land and Glavchudo -- have since removed the decorative toilet paper from their websites.
