Kleenex, the toilet paper brand produced at Kimberly-Clark Australia’s Millicent Mill in South Australia, has teamed up with Bowel Cancer Australia on a new awareness campaign urging people to watch for early signs of the country's second-deadliest type of cancer. In an official statement, the two entities urged Australians to "Check your poo" ahead of Bowel Cancer Month in June. The statement acknowledged the "stigma and taboo" attached to monitoring bodily waste, which could help alert people early to signs of bowel cancer. Recent research conducted by PureProfile and commissioned by Kleenex ANZ surveyed 1,006 adult Australians and found 73.6 percent admitted "they aren't checking their [stool] for possible signs of bowel cancer" and 43.2 percent were "unable to correctly identify three key bowel cancer symptoms."
