EPRC Announces European Paper Recycling Awards Winner

The European Paper Recycling Council (EPRC) this month awarded global paper and packaging company Mondi the 10th edition of the European Paper Recycling Awards. This year’s honor recognizes Mondi’s work in delivering an array of functional paper packaging with specific barriers that the council says are easy to process for recyclers. Elisabeth Schwaiger, Mondi's flexible packaging head of innovation, comments, "Our recyclable FunctionalBarrier papers show how innovation and rigorous, science-led testing can deliver real circular solutions." EPRC's latest report shows that the paper value chain remains on pace to reach a 76 percent recycling rate by the end of the decade. According to EPRC data, paper products in Europe presently reach an overall recycling rate of 75.1 percent, while paper-based packaging reaches a rate of 87 percent.
