Paper Industry Joins Oregon EPR Lawsuit

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) last week filed to join a lawsuit, initiated by the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors (NAW), that challenges Oregon’s extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging law. In its announcement, AF&PA "requested the same temporary pause the court granted NAW." Along with AF&PA, such other groups as the Northwest Grocery Retail Association and the Oregon Business and Industry Association filed motions to intervene and for a preliminary injunction. Last month, NAW secured a preliminary injunction blocking enforcement of Oregon's packaging EPR program against NAW members specifically until a trial.
