The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) has released the June 2026 Printing-Writing Monthly report, which shows total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 8% in June year over year. Using the latest trade data available from the U.S. Census Bureau, AF&PA researchers found that purchases of total printing-writing papers decreased 1% in May compared to May 2025. Across the three major printing-writing categories — uncoated free sheet (UFS), coated free sheet (CFS), and mechanical (MECH) — year-to-date U.S. shipments last month showed negative results when compared to the same period a year prior. UFS shipments decreased 9%, while CFS shipments slipped 3% and MECH shipments plummeted 28%.
