Pricing has proven to be a major topic during fiber companies’ second-quarter earnings calls. Executives from companies including Packaging Corporation of America and Smurfit Westrock have frequently cited higher raw material and transportation costs as reasons for substantial price hikes. Pricing has also been an issue for some slightly smaller or international paper and packaging companies. Among those chronicled in the article is Clearwater Paper, with second-quarter shipment volumes up 8 percent from a year earlier. The Spokane, Washington-based company recently announced its second $60 per ton price increase of 2026 for all products.
