Pulpex Ltd. has announced the opening of a manufacturing facility near Glasgow, Scotland, which will produce molded pulp bottles that can be collected and recycled along with other types of paper and board. According to the United Kingdom-based company, the Scottish plant will have an initial capacity of up to 40 million units annually. It further calls the new factory "the first step on a road map to one billion units" a year. The facility has been supported by investment from the Scottish National Investment Bank and the U.K.'s National Wealth Fund. Pulpex's patent-protected fiber bottle has been designed to be recycled "through normal household paper and card streams using existing paper and board recycling facilities," according to a company statement.
